The ceiling
One number, and it starts at nothing
Unattended spending starts at nothing and stays there until you raise it. There is no default allowance and no trial credit that behaves differently, so the number you set is the number in force.

- 9.2Per workspace, not per agentThe ceiling belongs to the workspace, so five agents cannot each spend it. They draw on one allowance and it runs out once.
- 9.3A rolling windowCounted over a rolling period rather than a calendar month, because a calendar reset releases a month of headroom at midnight to whatever is queued.
- 9.4Agents cannot move itRaising the ceiling is an owner action. No agent can propose, request or be granted a raise, however well its reasoning reads.
What no ceiling covers
Some actions are not about the amount
A ceiling is a statement about money. Several things an agent might do are irreversible regardless of what they cost, and those are held on their nature rather than their price — a message sent to six customers cannot be unsent for any number.
- 9.5Irreversible always waitsSending to customers, closing an account, publishing a price change. These are configured separately from the spending ceiling, because they have no amount to compare against.
- 9.6Under the ceiling still recordsAn action that runs unattended is not an action that runs unseen. It appears in the history with its amount and the agent that took it.
- 9.7The ceiling is a stop, not a budgetReaching it does not fail the work. Everything above the line becomes a proposal waiting on a person, which is the same place it would have started at zero.
- 9.8Changes are recordedWho raised or lowered the ceiling, when, and to what, is written into the workspace history like any other decision.
